Description

This print is a reproduction of a painting of Abraham Lincoln by James Montgomery Flagg that was published in the February 1934 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine. The artist depicted Lincoln standing at and gazing out of a window. He is shown wearing a long purple dressing gown over his white shirt and dark trousers. The expression on Lincoln's gaunt face seems troubled. Lincoln's left hand is holding on to the drapery while his right hand is held behind his back. The artist's name is printed in the lower left corner of the image. There is a triple line black border surrounding the margins. The print is anchored into one side of a large pamphlet style folder. Below the print is a facsimile signature of the artist. The opposite side of the pamphlet includes information about how the artist decided to paint Lincoln as well as how the Good Housekeeping editor became aware of it.
