Description
This large two-page woodcut engraving from Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, vol. 20 (1865 May 6), p. 103-4, depicts the funeral procession for President Abraham Lincoln in Washington D.C. After the funeral ceremony in the east room of the Executive Mansion the procession lead to the Capitol Building where the casket was to lie in state. Lincoln's casket is in the center of the illustration under a canopy. Huge crowds of people flanked the procession in the foreground and background.
