This is a piece of sheet music for the song, “Col. Ellsworth’s Funeral March.” The cover is plain with a color illustration at the center of Colonel Ellsworth, a Union officer, wearing a blue coat and red pants standing on an American flag. The title is printed in gray and black lettering above and below the illustration. Colonel Elmer Ellsworth was the first commissioned officer to die in the Civil War on May 23, 1861. This piece of music was published in two versions. One version included the colored lithograph of Colonel Ellsworth as the cover in addition to the black and white cover. The other version was published without the colored lithograph and was called the "Plain Title" version. See 71.2009.083.0232 for the plain title version. 5, [1] p. of music. For piano.
