Description

This colored postcard features the building in which the law firm of Lincoln and Herndon had its office. According to the narrative text, this illustration shows the building as it appeared on the day of President Abraham Lincoln's funeral, draped in mourning for that occasion, May 4, 1865. Abraham Lincoln and William Herndon occupied the office in this building from 1844 to 1852. The caption is printed along the lower edge of the image. The postcard reverse is divided with the narrative text printed on the left side. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
