Description
This color postcard features the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, D. C. Located four blocks from the White House, several United States presidents attended services there. President Lincoln attended services regularly there and rented a pew for $50 a year. Reverend Gurley, the pastor, presided over the funeral service of the Lincolns' son Willie in 1862 as well as the president's funeral in 1865. The postcard reverse is divided.
