Description
This tinted postcard features the horse owned by Abraham Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois. This driving horse, owned and used by Lincoln during his time as a circuit lawyer and in his political campaign, was known both as "Old Robin" and "Old Bob." The original photograph on which this postcard image is based was taken at the time of President Lincoln's funeral procession. Old Bob wore a mourning blanket and was positioned behind the hearse for the procession. The postcard caption is printed along the bottom edge of the image. The postcard reverse is divided.
