Description
This colored postcard features a two-story building with a covered porch known as a tavern located in Rockport, Indiana. In October 1844 Abraham Lincoln gave a speech at Spencer County Courthouse to promote Henry Clay, Whig presidential candidate. Lincoln, during his first trip to Indiana in 14 years, was a guest at the Tavern. The caption is printed in red ink along the top edge of the image. The postcard reverse is divided.
