Description

This original charcoal sketch features three portraits of Abraham Lincoln, one with a beard and two without the beard. The portrait to the viewer's left was done from a photograph taken of him on May 7, 1858, in Beardstown, Illinois. The middle portrait was done from a photograph taken of him on June 3, 1860, in Springfield, Illinois. The sketch on the viewer's right was done from a photograph taken of President Lincoln on February 9, 1864, in Washington, D. C.
