Description
This is a piece of sheet music for the song, “Sanitary Fair Polka.” The cover features a color illustration of a mass of people assembled outside of a large public building with four American flags flying overhead. The title is printed in black lettering above the illustration. The image is surrounded by images of two women, one holding a flag the other holding a basket of fruit, and four vignettes at each of the four corners. The vignettes are, clockwise from the upper left: a soldier standing sentry in the snow; a battle scene; a man and woman embracing at home; a man tending to a wounded soldier. At the bottom of the cover is a shield with, “Published for the Benefit of the Mississippi Valley Sanitary Fair” printed on it. 5 p. of music. For piano. Pl. no.: 1045-3.
