Description
This jumbo-sized color postcard features the Lincoln Memorial statue of President Abraham Lincoln, done by sculptor Daniel Chester French, located in Washington, D. C. Carved from Georgia marble, President Lincoln is depicted seated in a large stately chair with a large United States flag draped over the back of the chair. Each of Lincoln's arms is resting on the chair. His head is tilted slightly downward as if deep in thought. The statue rests on a ten-foot high pedestal. The commemorative statement "In this temple as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever" is carved on the wall behind the statue. The postcard reverse is divided. Narrative text is printed on the left side. The number J-14 is printed in the upper left corner.
