Description
This bust is a small replica of Volk's Abraham Lincoln short bust. Abraham Lincoln is shown from the neck up, beardless and facing the viewer. On the back of the bust is a replica of the original markings which reads, "Abraham Lincoln, modelled from life by Leonard W. Volk, Chicago, 1860. Replica." The bust is a dark bronze color and rests on a black trapezoidal base. On the front of the pedestal is a gold-colored plaque that reads, "1979 Barondess/Lincoln Award to the Louis A. Warren Lincoln Library and Museum. Presented by Civil War Round Table of New York." For more information on the sculptural studies of Lincoln by Leonard W. Volk see "Lincoln Lore" issues 241, 1047, and 1421-1425. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
