Description

This figure titled "O Captain My Captain: Abraham Lincoln and His Son William" on the front plaque on the figure's pedestal, depicts President Lincoln and his son facing one another in standing positions. Lincoln is shown bearded and wearing long trousers, a frock coat, vest, buttoned shirt, and bow tie with a fringed shawl over his shoulders. In his right hand, he holds his top hat. His left hand is extended to rest on Willie's upper right arm. Abraham Lincoln's left foot is extended slightly forward. William Lincoln is shown wearing long trousers, a fully buttoned jacket, shirt, and tie. In his left hand he holds a brimmed hat and his left arm rests next to his body with hand clenched. The two figures stand on a round metal base that is attached to a four sided wooden base. The front plaque also has the name, Daniel P. Gray. On the rear of the base is another plaque that reads, "No. 4 Sculpture 1991."
