Description

This drawing features a head and shoulders portrait of a beardless Abraham Lincoln done after a photograph taken of him on August 13, 1860, in Springfield, Illinois. Lincoln is depicted facing the viewer and wearing a dark coat, white collared shirt, and black bow tie. There are small elements of shadow present above his shoulders and next to his ears. Greater detail was given in portraying Lincoln's face and hair while his clothes were roughly sketched. The artist has sketched a rough line border around Lincoln. The image is drawn on heavy board.
