Description
This group figurine depicts Abraham Lincoln meeting with General Ulysses Grant and Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. Abraham Lincoln in seated in the center in a four legged chair that has decorative arms and legs and has fabric draped over the back of it. Lincoln is sitting in the chair, with his entire body angled to the viewer's left and his legs slightly crossed at the ankles. He is holding open in front of him a document. Lincoln is bearded and wearing an outer coat, waistcoat, shirt, tie, long pants, and square-toed shoes with a slight heel. Under the chair is another document that is partially rolled up. On the viewer's left, behind Lincoln, is General Grant. Grant is standing straight up with his body turned inwards towards the center of the overall figurine. With his right hand, Grant is pointing to something on the document in Lincoln's hands. Grant is bearded and wearing his uniform which has a stripe with three stars on each shoulder, a waistcoat, shirt, tie, long pants, and square-toed shoes with a slight heel. To the viewer's right, standing behind Lincoln is Stanton. Stanton is standing upright with his body turned inwards towards the center of the overall figurine. In his hands, he is wiping a pair of glasses with a cloth. He is wearing an outer coat, waistcoat, shirt, tie, long pants, and square-toed shoes with a slight heel. The figurine rests on a mostly circular pedestal that has a straight rear edge. On the front of the pedestal is engraved, "The Council of War." To the PR of Lincoln's feet is an engraving that reads, "John Rogers New York." On the rear of the pedestal, behind Grant's feet is an engraving that reads, "Patented March 31, 1868."
