Description
This head and shoulders bust of President Abraham Lincoln is a hollow plaster cast of the original by Thomas D. Jones done from life in 1861. Lincoln's head is turned to the viewer's left. He is bearded and wearing a jacket, vest, collared shirt, and bow tie with a classical style drape overall. There are few details in Lincoln's eyes. The bust rests on a pedestal that bears Lincoln's last name. The entire piece is white. When Jones invited Lincoln to comment on his work in 1861, Lincoln said, "I think it looks very much like the critter."
