Description

This figurine depicts a young Abraham Lincoln as a soldier in the Black Hawk War in 1832. He is shown beardless and wearing a fringed frontier jacket, pants, tall boots, and a floppy hat. Across his body is worn a canteen and a satchel. He is walking forward with a rifle, which has become separated from the rest of the figure, in his right hand and his left hand rests against the trunk of a tree. Around his feet are medium sized rocks. At the base of the bronze figure is a plaque that reads, "CAPTAIN LINCOLN The Black Hawk War." The bronze figure sits on a circular dark wood base. On the bottom of the base is engraved the artist's name, Daniel Gray.
