Description

This piece is a copy of the life mask done of Abraham Lincoln's face by sculptor Leonard Wells Volk in 1860. The sculptor covered Lincoln's face with a coat of plaster and pulled it off in one piece once the plaster had dried. The mask does not include any representation of Lincoln's hair. (Lincoln did not grow his beard until after the election in November of 1860.) The entire piece is a glazed white.
