Description

This original artwork features two watercolor paintings of buildings on the property of Joshua Speed who was a close friend of Abraham Lincoln. The painting at the top is labeled "The Spring house" in the bottom left corner. The building appears to be built into a hill with a wide roof. Three trees stand behind and to the left of the structure. The second and larger painting is labeled "Joshua Speeds Farm house" in the bottom margin.. A brick sidewalk with plants on either side leads to steps and the front porch and entrance. A bearded man is depicted in a chair looking out at the viewer. The farmhouse is surrounded by a white fence, and tall trees stand on either side of the house. "Sky very light and silvery" is written in pencil along the left edge of the board near the midpoint.
