Description

This painting features a head and shoulders portrait of Mary Todd Lincoln as the First Lady in 1861. It is based on a photograph taken of her in Washington, D. C. in 1861. The artist's signature and date are on Mrs. Lincoln's left shoulder. The title is handwritten in black ink in the bottom margin. The painting was used on the cover of the Fall 1976 issue of The Lincoln Herald published by the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum in Harrogate, Tennessee.
