Description

This watercolor on heavy textured paper was painted by President Abraham Lincoln's great-granddaughter, Mary Lincoln Beckwith, also known as Peggy Beckwith. The painting features a country scene with a dirt road in the foreground crossed by a white fence. A young boy is shown sitting on top of the fence apparently watching the small white dog near the lower right corner of the painting. A woman dressed in white is shown standing behind the fence near the boy. A small white building with a red roof and chimney is to the viewer's right. A larger white building appears in the distant background. The date 2/22/38 is handwritten in pencil in the lower right corner of the painting.
