Description

This drawing is a political cartoon completed in ink and watercolor. The cartoon depicts President Abraham Lincoln, dressed in his typical black suit and an exaggerated top hat, looking into a shop window that displays a red baseball cap with a white "A" on it, on sale for $5.00. The cartoon is all in grayscale except for the red hat. The artist handwritten signature along with "Playboy 2-2000" are placed along the right edge of the drawing. On the reverse side, a stamp provides the contact information for the artist's studio. See ID numbers 71.2009.081.0626 and .0629 for two more original cartoons drawn by Howard Shoemaker.
