Description

Framed relief scene depicts a young Abraham Lincoln sitting on a stool and reading a book by firelight. The figure is illustrated in a log cabin setting that includes a fireplace hearth, vases, a table, and a shelf. The scene uses high and low relief and is painted brick red and black. In lower right corner, there is engraving that reads "Azzoni after Eastman Johnson." Scene is framed in white plaster with engraved black letters that reads "The Boyhood of Abraham Lincoln." On bottom of frame, etched handwriting reads "Copyright 1912 by the Republican Club of the City of New York; Lincoln Dinner Committee." Additional etched handwriting reads "Created and Produced by the Petrax Company New York City." On the back is an attached wire string used for hanging.
