Description

This is a lithograph that features an image of General McClellan seated leisurely on a ship, sipping on a drink as he looks lackadaisically on a battle that is raging in the distance. "Potomac" is written in the lower proper right corner of the image. The title appears in the lower margin, along with the phrase, "See evidence before Committee on conduct of the War." In the lower proper left corner, there are faint traces of text that appear to be from another lithograph and have seeped onto this print. The text reads backwards, and runs vertically on the page. Another group of text is faintly visible on the upper proper left corner as well. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
