Description

This etching features a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln in profile, facing the viewer's left. The etching is printed on cream paper. His face is highly detailed with fine strokes and cross-hatching; his shoulder and chest are rendered with less detail. He has a beard and a dark shadow around his eye. Lincoln is wearing a black coat, bow tie, and a white collared shirt. The artist's signature is printed on Lincoln's shoulder. The following is printed: "Copyrighted by T. Johnson 1892" in the top left; "Barmore Pub. Co. New York" in the top right; "With Malice Toward None" in the bottom left surrounded by branches and ribbon; "Abraham Lincoln" in cursive across the center; and "Etched by T.
