Description

This pen and ink illustration, depicting two buildings in New Salem, Illinois, during the time Abraham Lincoln lived there, is one of several illustrations done by C. M. Biggers for the book "The Lincoln Album : Life of the Preserver of the Union, the Liberator of a People, and the First American" published in 1907 by Hawkins Publishing Company, St. Louis, Missouri. The building to the viewer's left was the Berry and Lincoln store. The cabin to the viewer's right was the Bowling Green home where Lincoln often read law books. The artist's initials appear in the lower left corner of the print. The entire book pdf can be viewed online at https: ia802905.us.archive.org. This illustration appears on page 24 in the book.
