Description

This charcoal drawing done from a photograph of Abraham Lincoln taken on August 26, 1858, in Macomb, Illinois, is one of several illustrations done by C. M. Biggers for the book "The Lincoln Album : Life of the Preserver of the Union, the Liberator of a People, and the First American" published in 1907 by Hawkins Publishing Company, St. Louis, Missouri. This print features a head and shoulders portrait of a beardless Abraham Lincoln facing the viewer with his body turned slightly toward the viewer's left. Lincoln wears a dark jacket, white collared shirt, and large bow tie. There appears to be a droopiness to Lincoln's right eyelid. The artist's signature "C. M. B." appears under Lincoln's right shoulder. The entire book pdf can be viewed online at https: //ia802905.us.archive.org. This illustration appears on page 17 in the book.
