Description

This painting features attorney Abraham Lincoln riding in a carriage pulled by a horse on a dirt road. It is the artist's idea of how Lincoln looked as he traveled the 400-mile Eight Judicial Circuit during the 1850s. Lincoln is shown wearing a top hat and looking down reading a book. On the right, there is a large tree and a wooden fence. The painting is signed in the lower right corner by the artist. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum.
