Description
Lincoln's black leather portfolio wallet features a front flap that tucks into a cut-out closure on the reverse. The interior accordions out in dividers made of white cloth printed with small blue flowers. Each of the twelve dividers has a piece of cloth tape printed with a month and letters of the alphabet to help organize materials; for example, "January. A-B" and "February. C-D." "A. Lincoln, Springfield, Ills." is handwritten in black ink on the inside of the flap. "Herndon" is handwritten in ink on a small piece of paper glued inside the back. This wallet contained knife, 71.2009.082.0016. Part of The Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
