Description

Collection of 381 encased Lincoln penny tokens in cardstock coin holders placed 12 to a cardboard display page. The pennies are dated from the 1950s through 1965. Each penny was forced into a machine-holed aluminum collar inscribed with the phrase "Keep me and never go broke" over the penny and a four-leaf clover beneath the penny. The reverse of the token may have the name of a business inscribed at the top with its address or business slogan at the bottom. Some of them are souvenirs of events or places rather than business advertisements. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
