Description

Object features a lobster claw closure that is attached to circular metal rings that end in a suspended black ribbon. In turn, this black ribbon has a large circular metal ring attached to it that holds a slightly scalloped medallion. The medallion features a low relief scene of a young Abraham Lincoln splitting a log with a maul and wedge. On either side are bushes or low trees. The Capitol Building is visible in the background. On the back, there are words executed in low relief that read "Lincoln Dinner Republican Club of the City of New York February 12th 1903". "1903" is flanked by five-point stars. A branch of laurel leaves borders the edge of the medallion to the right of the text. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
