Description

This commander's badge consists of a gold silk ribbon with a pin attached to the top with two dangling medallions. The bronze pin is shaped like an eagle with spread wings perched atop two crossed cannons. A gold-colored panel painted with "G.A.R." in red, white, and blue letters and "Representative" embossed below is linked to the eagle. A silver-colored bar with attached medal with Abraham Lincoln's profile and the text "Springfield, Ill., 1932" embossed is linked. A bronze medallion with the bust of "Samuel P. Town, Commander in Chief, G.A.R." is linked at the end. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
