Description

Circular celluloid button features three portraits of assassinated U.S. presidents including Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, and William McKinley in black on a white ground. The portraits are arranged with Lincoln at the top and Garfield and McKinley below side by side. The birth and death dates of each president are printed above and below the portraits. The print surrounding Lincoln reads "Born Feb. 12th, 1809 Died April 15th, 1865". The print surrounding Garfield reads "Born Nov. 19th, 1831 Died Sept. 19th, 1881". The print surrounding McKinley reads "Born Jan. 29th, 1843 Died Sept. 14th, 1901". In the space between portraits is a triangular linear design. The bottom of the button also has print that reads '"OUR MARTYRS"'. The bottom rim of the button has print that reads "Copyright Applied For The Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark, New Jersey, U S. A".
