Description

Circular celluloid pin features a flag of the United States of America slightly above center on a white ground. The flag is represented in color and has a red bow attached to its staff. Above and below the flag, red print is present. Arching above print reads "Lincoln" and below horizontal print reads "Red Ribbon Club. Org. 1877.". The back features a metal needle used for securing the pin to clothing. Inserted paper with black print is also present. The print reads "The Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark, N.J. Patented July 17, 1894. April 14, 1896. July 21, 1896.". The Red Ribbon Club was a temporance reform club organized in 1877 by John B. Finch in Lincoln, Nebraska. Other chapters were then organized throughout the state.
