Description

President Abraham Lincoln's pewter horse paperweight features a horse rearing up on its hind legs on top of a column with a tiered base and top. The horse's hooves are nailed to the top of the column. The horse's molded mane and tail are detailed with strands of hair. The horse has a bronze patina, but may have also originally been painted gold, but the paint has since worn away. According to an affadavit by William H. Tisdale, an orderly to President Lincoln during the Civil War, he saw many times this paperweight on President Lincoln's desk in the White House.
