Description

This card consists of an illustration clipped from a publication and pasted to a piece of card stock. The artist/illustrator James E. McBurney depicted Abraham Lincoln as he might have looked when riding the Eighth Judicial Circuit in Illinois as part of his law practice in the 1840s and 1850s. Lincoln is shown on horseback riding through the countryside after the leaves have fallen from the trees. The caption is printed below the image. Another clipping about the art is pasted onto the back of the card. The reverse is blank. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
