Description

This advertising piece for the White Sewing Machine Co. features a head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln printed in various shades of green ink. On the reverse is a brief biography and character sketch of President Lincoln with the motto and name of the company printed below. The name of the retailer is stamped in green ink at the bottom. The complete piece consists of two prints with the print on top folded horizontally at the center to form a pocket with the first print. Tan colored binding tape was sewn to three edges of the prints with extra binding tape at the top forming an arch and extra binding tape extending two inches below the prints on each side. A facsimile signature is in the lower right corner of the top print and an oval stamp in blue ink in the lower left corner reads "Made on the White machine."
