Description

Yellowed and faded rectangle of lined paper with small portion of rope attached with a second smaller rectangle of lined paper. Visable hand written note on paper that has greatly faded. Note reads, "A portion of the rope with which Herold was hanged July 7, 1865." This is a piece of the rope used to hang one of Booth's fellow conspirators, David Edgar Herold, a few months after Lincoln's assassination.
