Description
Scrap of black Valenciennes lace 2-1/2 Inches high by 2 inches wide attached to a larger mat board mount. The hem of the lace is scalloped and the remnant appears to have been cut, rather than torn. According to documentation accompanying the lace, it is said to have been removed from one of Mary Todd Lincoln's dresses by her dressmaker, Elizabeth Keckley.
