Funeral Train Pass
Lincoln’s body was never left unattended as the funeral train made its thirteen-day journey from Washington to Springfield. This ticket issued by the War Department to Capt. G.H. West designates him as one of the men to accompany the President’s body on the funeral train. The ticket is signed on the reverse by Brig. Gen. T.W. Bennett and Gov. Oliver P. Morton of Indiana. In addition to attendants assigned to the train, state and local government officials and other prominent men rode parts of the route.
