A Changing Tide
George Meade’s most famous battle occurred July 1st through July 3rd 1863. As the commanding general at the Battle of Gettysburg, Meade delivered a critical victory against Lee and his troops. In spite of this, he was rebuked by President Lincoln for not pursuing the Army of Northern Virginia. In spite of this Gettysburg was a momentous victory for the Union.
