Return To The Booth Mummy

Mummy at Night

Agnes and Joseph Harkin bought the “Booth” mummy from Evans for $5000 in 1930. The couple traveled the country with it and a stack of affidavits swearing to its authenticity. They exhibited the mummy by day and according to a newspaper article from 1938 “they slept on bunks on either side of [their] truck; John, who was considered practically a member of the family, had a berth on the floor between them”. The above Life Magazine photograph from 1938 shows the mummy wrapped up in the Harkin’s truck for the night.
