Robert Todd Lincoln as a student
After spending the first part of his life in Springfield, Illinois Robert made the decision, with his father’s help, to attend Harvard University. Robert was far from an academic prodigy as was considered to be middle of the pack as a student. To Robert’s chagrin, he failed fifteen of the sixteen tests given by the university and was not admitted in his initial attempt. After studying at Exeter Academy for a year, Robert took the Harvard entrance exam once again and passed easily, just a few months before his father would win the Presidency of the United States.
