The cartoon, printed in 1963 shortly after the assassination of JFK President John F. Kennedy, features Abraham Lincoln standing solemnly with his head down and his hat off while holding a book titled, "Profiles in Courage, by J.F.K.". This cartoon shows Lincoln’s sorrow at JFK’s Kennedy’s death while standing behind Kennedy’s empty rocking chair. Kennedy had serious back problems and was known to have a rocking chair that he used frequently because it helped his back. Lincoln was assassinated while sitting in a rocking chair.
