A Look Into the Honest Salesman : Lincoln in Advertisements
Product advertisements have been an important aspect in the history of America because they serve as an illustration of the popular culture in the time period in which they were created. Advertisements are created to promote or sell a particular brand, object, or service. Abraham Lincoln has been used in many marketing campaigns since his death in 1865 because of his status as a figure in American history and because he is known as "Honest Abe." Even today we see advertisements using Abraham Lincoln to promote different brands and products. This exhibit will look into some of the advertisement cards of the past that used Lincoln to promote a product.
