Solomon Barnes Letter

This letter was written by Union soldier Solomon Barnes to his "dear wife" Elizabeth. In the letter Barnes discussed the election and how soldiers had voted. A portion of the letter reads: "I have just saw aman of the 12th Ind that just came from home hee was telling mee that old abe would bee elected without a dout one thing sure hee will get nearly all the soldier's votes one Missouri Regiment cast four hundred and one votes and every one was for old abe."
