William Harlan in 1866
This photograph was taken in 1866 in Iowa. The Harlan family lived in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, when they were not in Washington. Many photographs of William, his family, and Robert Lincoln’s children were taken by Leisenring Brothers Photographers during visits to Iowa. The dated stamp on the reverse proves the year the photograph was taken, before William’s sister married into the Lincoln family.
