Description

This is a leaf from political magazine, Harper's Weekly April 22 1865 edition, featuring pages 251-252. Page 252 is filled with five sketches depicting different Civil War battle scenes, one of Petersburg, Virginia, and the remaining four of Richmond, Virginia. The top sketch, by Andrew McCallum, is titled "Capture of Petersburg, Virginia--The Second Michigan Raising the Stars and Stripes Over the Custom-House, April 3, 1865". The middle two sketches, by A.W. Warren are titled "View of the Castle Thunder, in Richmond" and "View of the Libey Prison, Richmond". The bottom sketch is titled "Ruins on Main Street, Richmond", also by A.W. Warren. Page 251 is a page of different texts split up into four vertical columns. Different material include the end of a story, followed by "The Omens," and then "Humors of the Day." Note: Thomas Nast is a famous political cartoonist of Harper's Weekly.
