Description

This statuette depicts Abraham Lincoln in full figure as a frontiersman. He stands, facing the viewer with an axe in both hands. He is clean-shaven and wears a shirt with the sleeves rolled up, pants, and boots. The figure stands on a base that is styled to look like a portion of a felled tree. On the reverse is engraved "Avard Fairbanks 1941." For more information on this and other Fairbanks sculpture, see "Lincoln Lore" number 1870, Fall, 2002, pages 4-9.
