Description

This black and white photograph features the clay model for the heroic-sized, full-length bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln by sculptor Avard Fairbanks which is located at the Ewa Plantation School near Honolulu, Hawaii. Fairbanks titled his statue "Lincoln, the Frontierman." The sculptor shows the young Lincoln standing with one foot on a tree trunk holding an axe in his hands. Lincoln is shown beardless and dressed with a vest over a shirt open to the collar with the sleeves rolled up, pants with suspenders, and boots.
