Description

This postcard is a photograph of the replica of the Wigwam which was part of the Lincoln Group at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933. Built on a much smaller scale than the original building, the Wigwam was where Abraham Lincoln was nominated as the Republican presidential candidate in Chicago in 1860. Meant to be temporary, it was a very large rectangular building meant to hold about 12,000 people for the Republican National Convention. The caption and the number 100 are printed along the top edge of the image. The postcard reverse is divided. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
